The Australia and New Zealand governments have been in discussion about the possibility of a trans-Tasman bubble.
From 16 October 2020, one-way safe travel is available outbound from New Zealand to eligible Safe Travel Zones in Australia (New South Wales, South Australia and the Northern Territory in the first stage of quarantine free travel). The second stage commences on 9 November and includes Victoria.
This means if you travel from New Zealand to New South Wales, South Australia, Victoria or the Northern Territory you do not have to quarantine on arrival. Passengers traveling from New Zealand will be required to complete a COVID Declaration Card issued by the Australian Government.
Please note that this is currently a one-way arrangement and when returning to New Zealand passengers will be required to quarantine for 14 days, provide payment for quarantine and must register their managed isolation accommodation requirements with the New Zealand Government website.
At this stage there is no change for travel from Australia to New Zealand.
